EDUC 435 - Literacy Through Physical Activity and Health


(3 S.H.)

This course will prepare students to implement effective classroom literacy instruction in the K-12 grades. The course will be structured to provide concentrated attention to instructional reading and writing strategies, development of rich vocabulary and applicable sections of the Minnesota graduation standards and teacher licensing legislation for DAPE. Prerequisites: EFRT 303 - Human Development and Learning: Elementary Education with Early Childhood Emphasis  or EFRT 304 - Human Development and Learning: Middle Level and K-12  or EFRT 305 - Human Development and Learning: Secondary ; ◆ EFRT 310 - Instructional Planning and Assessment: Elementary Education with Early Childhood Emphasis  or ◆ EFRT 311 - Instructional Planning and Assessment: Middle Level and K-12  or ◆ EFRT 312 - Instructional Planning and Assessment: Secondary ; or EDFD 400 - Human Development and Learning: Early Childhood and Elementary  and EDFD 460 - Multicultural Youth, Children, & Families Part I: Early Childhood and Elementary  or 416; or ◆ EDFD 440 - Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment: Early Childhood and Elementary  or ◆ EDFD 441 - Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment: K-12 and Secondary  and EDFD 420 - Classroom Management: Early Childhood and Elementary  or EDFD 421 - Classroom Management: K-12 and 5-12 .
