◎ ECON 307 - Freakonomics

(3 credits)

The first lesson of economics is that incentives matter: people respond in predictable ways to changing costs and benefits. Since economics is a social science, demonstrating behavioral relationships is very difficult and economists must use field data and clever methods to identify causal mechanisms. This course will analyze some intuitive and appealing economic research methodologies through readings and discussions. Prerequisites: ECON 201 - Principles of Microeconomics  or ECON 202 - Principles of Macroeconomics . Grade only. Offered annually (usually spring semester).
