Art (Teaching) (ARTT) - BS Major

Purpose


The teaching program prepares graduates for Minnesota certification in art (K-12) and is offered in conjunction with the College of Education. Teaching majors must take all courses in the Art (K-12) Professional Education Sequence in addition to courses in the content area.

Overview of Requirements for the BS Major – Art Teaching:


  • General Education Requirements: 40 S.H.
  • Art Specialty Core Requirements and Art Electives: 51 S.H. including 6 S.H. General Education.
  • Professional Education Sequence: 38 S.H. including 3 S.H. in General Education and 3 S.H. Physical Development  and Well-being.

Required General Education Courses (40 S.H.)


Note: This requirement includes 3 S.H. Professional Education Sequence courses, that also satisfies General Education Goal 5 requirement, and another one that satisfies the Physical Development and Wellness requirement.  It also includes 6 S.H. of Art Requirements that also satisfy General Education Goal 6 requirements.   These courses are identified with an asterisk (*) below.
