MSW 679 - Advanced Topics in Child Welfare(3 credits) This course provides an advanced study of contemporary topics, issues, concerns, research and/or trends in child welfare social work. It prepares students for advanced clinical social work practice in public, private, and tribal child welfare. Students learn in-depth clinical skills and evidence-based approaches to assessment and treatment of problems commonly experienced by child welfare populations. This course also cover policies, programs, prevention, diversity, and culturally competent interventions to secure child safety and family well-being. Students have opportunities to develop and demonstrate knowledge, skills, and values in various course experiences. Prerequisites: admission to MSW program and MSW 640 - Trauma-Informed Clinical Social Work Practice or instructor permission. Grade only. Offered each semester as needed. |
