An examination of film as a complex cultural medium through the lenses of key theoretical approaches such as formalism, semiotics, psychoanalysis, feminism, Marxism, cultural studies, queer theory, audience and star studies, reception and spectatorship, and/or genre analysis. Prerequisites: ENG 111 - College Reading and Writing , FILM 140 - Approaches to Film  and  FILM 240 - Film Genres ; or △ ENG 390 - Literary Criticism: Theory and Practice . Grade only.
