SPED 471 - Advanced Behavior Methods


(3 S.H.)

This course provides the teacher candidate with knowledge and skills related to procedures for practical application of behavioral principles used in classroom management specific to students with mild Autism Spectrum Disorder, Developmental Cognitive Disability, Emotional/Behavioral Disorder, other health disability, and Specific Learning Disability. Teacher candidates will practice behavior interventions with students who have diverse educational needs. Prerequisites: SPED 300 - Children and Youth with Exceptionalities , SPED 405 - Student Management Systems , SPED 420 - Special Education Administrative Procedures , and admission to Teacher Education. Prerequisite or co-requisite: SPED 425 - Inclusion in Regular Classrooms . Co-requisites: SPED 473 - Transition and Secondary Skills  and SPED 475 - Secondary Field Experience for ABS . Grade only. Offered each semester.
