SPED 472 - Elementary Instruction

This course provides the teacher candidate with knowledge and skills related to the elementary grade level special education academic language, planning, teaching, monitoring K-6 exceptional learner’s academic, learning skills and social/emotional learning needs for the diverse learning circumstances of exceptional learners who meet the requirements for special education services in the following clinically diagnosed mild learning needs: Autism Spectrum Disorder, Developmental Cognitive Disability, Emotional/Behavioral Disorder, Other Health Disability, and Specific Learning Disability. Prerequisites: SPED 300 - Children and Youth with Exceptionalities, SPED 410 - Introduction to Assessment/Methods, SPED 420 - Special Education Administrative Procedures, and admission to Teacher Education. Prerequisite or co-requisite: SPED 425 - Inclusion in Regular Classrooms. Co-requisites: SPED 470 - Advanced Evaluation and Assessment and SPED 474 - Elementary Field Experience for ABS. Grade only. Offered each semester.
