PHIL 332 - Philosophy of Law

Consideration of the philosophical foundations of law. Topics may include the nature of law, concepts of responsibility and liability, theories of punishment, causation in the law, discrimination and equality, the relation of law and morality, the obligation to obey the law, civil disobedience, liberty and privacy, and theories in private law (tort, contract, property). Meets GOAL 6 (Humanities) and GOAL 9. Grade or P/NC. Offered at department discretion.
