SPED 470 - Advanced Evaluation and Assessment


(3 S.H.)

This course provides the teacher candidate with knowledge and skills related to procedures for pre-referral, referral, assessment, evaluation, individualized planning, programming and placement specific to students with mild to moderate Autism Spectrum Disorder, Developmental Cognitive Disability, Emotional/Behavioral Disorder, other health disability, and Specific Learning Disability. Teacher candidates will administer, score, and interpret a variety of assessment tools, both formal and informal, and use results to develop individualized education programs for learners with diverse educational needs. Prerequisites: SPED 300 - Children and Youth with Exceptionalities , SPED 410 - Introduction to Assessment/Methods , ◎ SPED 420 - Special Education Administrative Procedures , and admission to Teacher Education. Pre/corequisite: SPED 425 - Inclusion in Regular Classrooms . Grade only. Offered each semester.
