BIOL 441 - Comparative Vertebrate Physiology (3 S.H.)
Lectures and demonstrations provide an understanding of physiological mechanisms in an evolutionary context. Focus will be on organismal physiology, but will also include mechanisms of interaction between the cellular, tissue, organ, and organismal levels. Topics include temperature, water and solutes, respiration/circulation, sensory/nervous systems, endocrinology/reproduction. Prerequisites: BIOL 241 - Basics of Life , BIOL 242 - Organismal Diversity , BIOL 312 - General Ecology , △ BIOL 308 - Cell Biology , and CHEM 340 - Organic Chemistry Survey or CHEM 350 - Principles of Organic Chemistry I . Grade or P/NC. Offered alternate years.
