△ CME 452 - Mechanical Characterization Laboratory

A lecture-laboratory course. Experimental characterization of composite materials, including density of fibers, fiber content, tension, compression, flexure, in-plane shear, interlaminar shear, fatigue and impact properties of composite materials. Effect of stress concentration in composites. Lamina thermoelastic and off-axis response, and nondestructive evaluations of composites. Prerequisites: STAT 303 - Introduction to Engineering Statistics, CME 260 - Mechanics of Materials, and CME 360 - Introduction to Composite Materials. Grade only.
