PESS 326 - Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment Methods in Middle School-Secondary Physical Education


(3 S.H.)

The focus of this course is to provide future physical educators with the pedagogical knowledge to effectively plan, instruct, and assess diverse middle school and high school students through research based instructional models within a pre-determined curriculum design process that takes into account state and national physical education standards. Pre-service physical educators will learn how to implement each model by engaging in lectures, group discussions and activities, lesson planning, teaching, and assessing of their peers. Prerequisites: PESS 111 - Fundamentals of Movement , PESS 114 - Fundamentals of Adventure Education , PESS 151 - Fundamentals of Rhythms & Dance , PESS 152 - Fundamentals of Games Education , PESS 161 - Fundamentals of Aquatics & Outdoor Activities , PESS 162 - Fundamentals of Specialized Skills , PESS 225 - Planning, Instruction and Assessment in Physical/Adventure Education , & admission to Teacher Education Program. Majors only. Grade only. Offered spring semester.
