EL 658 - Real World Learning Design

(3 S.H.)

Students have resources at their fingertips to make a positive impact in our classrooms, schools, communities, and world. As we prepare students to be college and career ready - how do we ensure real world skills (like creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking and problem solving) are embedded into deep learning tasks and aligned to standards and course objectives? In this course, participants will examine student centered pedagogies, design applied real world learning experiences, and provide opportunities for students to present their work to an authentic audience. This is a three-credit hybrid course. We meet face-to-face at the beginning and end of the course as well as several times throughout the duration of the course. Recommended prerequisite: EL 657 - Mindset, Motivation, and Self-Directed Learning . Grade only. Offered annually.
