△ EDFD 459 - The Professional Educator (3 credits)
This course is designed to familiarize teacher education majors and others associated with the education profession with the historical and philosophical foundations of public education, school organizational patterns, legal responsibilities, professional organizations, and related educational issues. Additional components will involve classroom management and topics related to inclusive and special education. Prerequisites: Admission to Teacher Education, EDFD 400 - Human Development and Learning: Early Childhood and Elementary or EDFD 401 - Human Development and Learning: K-12 & 5-12 , EDFD 420 - Classroom Management: Early Childhood and Elementary or EDFD 421 - Classroom Management: K-12 and 5-12 , ◆ EDFD 440 - Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment: Early Childhood and Elementary or ◆ EDFD 441 - Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment: K-12 and Secondary , and EDFD 460 - Multicultural Youth, Children, & Families Part I: Early Childhood and Elementary or EDFD 461 - Multicultural Youth, Children, & Families: Part I: K-12 and 5-12 . Corequisite: EDFD 462 - Multicultural Youth, Children, and Families Part II . Grade only. Offered each semester.
