BIOL 429 - Genetics in Medicine


(3 credits)

This course will investigate the basis of inherited human disease, with an emphasis on how genetic disorders are passed from parent to offspring within families, diagnosis of genetic disorders by phenotype, using experimental means to diagnose and study genetic disorders, how changes in DNA sequence result in significant phenotypes, and genetic epidemiology. Prerequisites: BIOL 241 - Basics of Life , △ BIOL 308 - Cell Biology , and ◆ BIOL 310 - Genetics , or instructor permission. Grade only. Offered annually.
