FIN 470 - Financial Analysis in Excel (3 credits)
This course will develop the financial analytical and modeling skills used in the application of financial theory to practical problems in contemporary finance. The course will, in particular, cover the application of Excel spreadsheet functions and visual basic programming (VBA) to cash flow analysis, valuation, corporate finance, investments (including derivatives), financial institutions as well as other areas. This is a ‘hands-on’ course with extensive use of databases including S&P CapitalIQ, EDGAR (SEC), and Federal Reserve Economic Data (FRED). Prerequisite: FIN 360 - Corporate Finance . Grade only. Offered each semester. Note: Strongly recommended toward end of student program.
