CE 647 - Theoretical Applications in Play Therapy (4 credits)
This experiential course provides students with advanced knowledge and skill competencies in play therapy as a therapeutic intervention for children and families. This course builds on learning from the Introduction to Play therapy course through applications of Adlerian, Cognitive Behavioral, Developmental, Ecosystemic, and Filial theories. In addition, this course increases skill proficiency in limit setting, identification of play themes and stages of play, collaboration with adult caregivers, and integration of current research in play therapy. Through individual and group supervision and peer consultation in play therapy, this course prepares students to provide play therapy services in school, clinical, and home settings. Prerequisite: CE 646 - Introduction to Play Therapy . Grade only. Offered annually or when demand warrants. Note: Limited to 15 students per section.
