△ CMST 383 - Rhetoric, Culture, and Power: Analysis of Public Communication


(3 credits) Meets GEP Writing Intensive.

This course provides an introduction to the study of rhetoric and rhetorical criticism. The primary focus of the course is on the manner in which people use public communication to influence the behavior of others. Topics of study can include political discourse, popular narrative, and visual displays. Prerequisite: CMST 191 - Introduction to Public Speaking  or CMST 192 - Introduction to Effective Communication  or CMST 275 - Communication and Civic Dialogue . Grade or P/NC. Offered annually (usually spring semester).
