CMST 290 - Disability Culture, Communication, and Advocacy

(3 credits) Meets GOAL 7.

Disability is a part of our lives, but unfortunately, society champions ableism, making it challenging to acknowledge that 25% of people in the U.S. have a disability. Students will learn about disability culture, the interpersonal aspects of life with a disability, and how businesses, healthcare, education, and media can either perpetuate or dispel myths about disability. This course is designed to take you from curiosity to awareness so that you can apply your new knowledge to your career and life. Grade only. Offered every third semester.
