CMST 387 - Navigating Interpersonal Relationships


(3 credits)

This course provides an advanced understanding of interpersonal communication theories, processes, functions and contexts. Attention will be given to the initiation, development, maintenance, repair, networking in, and disengagement from a variety of interpersonal relationships such as families, friendships, romantic partners, and workplace relationships. This course is valuable to professionals in fields such as communication consulting, counseling, social work, and health care. Prerequisite: CMST 191 - Introduction to Public Speaking  or CMST 192 - Introduction to Effective Communication  or CMST 266 - Professional Communication Skills  or CMST 275 - Communication and Civic Dialogue . Grade only. Offered annually (usually fall semester).
