SOC 412 - Sociology of Gender and Sexuality


(3 credits)

The course will cover definitions and narratives pertaining to the social construction of gender, sex, and sexuality, related sociological theories, and gender-, sex-, and sexuality-based inequalities. Students will also gain experience reading original research as part of the course requirements. Sociology will provide the main perspective; the course will also draw on multi-disciplinary research. Prerequisite: SOC 150 - Introduction to Sociology  or WGSS 148 - Introduction to Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies . Grade only. Offered annually.
