CMST 425 - Health Communication: Unpacking the Complexities of Care


(3 credits)

This course provides students with an up-to-date overview of the healthcare industry, spotlighting communication issues and theories in patient care, healthcare organizations, public relations, human resources, health education, and health communication. Students learn about different cultures’ beliefs about health and wellness and gain a deeper understanding of the ethical issues in the healthcare context. Prerequisites: CMST 191 - Introduction to Public Speaking  or CMST 192 - Introduction to Effective Communication  or CMST 266 - Professional Communication Skills  or CMST 275 - Communication and Civic Dialogue . Junior or senior status recommended. Grade only. Offered annually (usually spring semester).
