CHEM 212 - Principles of Chemistry I (4 credits) Meets GOAL 3.
An in-depth study of the principles of chemistry including atomic structure, the chemical bond, reaction stoichiometry, an overview of aqueous-phase chemistry, thermochemistry, and molecular structure. Organic and inorganic examples are used when appropriate throughout the courses, and a short unit on organic chemistry may be included. Laboratory and lecture are coordinated. Prerequisites: High school intermediate algebra, or completion or concurrent enrollment in MATH 120 - Precalculus , or higher. Suggested corequisite: CHEM 211 - Supplement to Principles of Chemistry Grade or P/NC. Offered each semester.
