△ ENG 390 - Literary Criticism: Theory and Practice

(3 credits) Meets GEP Writing Intensive.

Following students’ introduction to literary-critical methodologies in ◆ ENG 290 - Literary Studies , and coinciding with students’ exercise of those approaches in various upper-division classes, this course covers major figures, ideas, and movements in literary criticism and theory. In this reading- and writing-intensive course, students produce papers that, from defined critical perspectives, interpret literary works by applying theoretical paradigms.  Prerequisite: ◆ ENG 290 - Literary Studies . Grade only. Offered annually.
