POLS 337 - Asian Political Systems

A comparative study of the political systems in Asia with an emphasis on the structure of governments, the extent of their effectiveness and the role of non-governmental actors: army; political parties; economic, social, and cultural groups in politics. Variable focus on either the major powers, such as China, Japan, and India, or the Asia Pacific countries and the factors responsible for their economic dynamism. Prerequisite: POLS 135 - Introduction to Comparative Politics or instructor permission. Grade or P/NC. Offered alternate years.
