MUS 118 - History of the American Musical Theatre

(3 credits) Meets GOAL 6 (Fine Arts).

This course is designed to provide a survey of American Musical Theatre history, tracking the evolution of the form through its various definitive styles and eras while exploring the genre in historical, musical, literary and social terms. Focus on selected musicals and their composers and librettists. No previous musical performing experience required. Grade only. Offered occasionally.
