GEOS 365 - Sedimentology and Stratigraphy

An introduction to the physical, chemical, and biological processes that affect sedimentation and depositional systems. Also explores stratigraphic nomenclature and correlation, facies models and depositional sequences, eustatic sea level changes, and plate tectonics. Lecture, laboratory and required field trips. Prerequisites: GEOS 301 - Field and Analytical Methods I, GEOS 305 - Earth Materials, and PHYS 201 - General Physics I or PHYS 221 - University Physics I. Grade only. Offered alternate years (usually fall semester). Note: Additional course fee.
