◆ HERS 468 - Clinical Pathophysiology and Disease Management


(3 credits) Meets GEP Math/Critical Analysis Intensive.

This course is designed for HERS majors, and other students enrolled in non-nursing health related majors.  This course explores the fundamental concepts of pathophysiology, examining the changes in biological and physiological functions that occur across the human lifespan. The course aims to provide knowledge of the epidemiology, pathophysiology, progression, risk factors, clinical findings, and treatments for various conditions. Students will understand the mechanisms of disease and develop a scientific approach to managing common alterations in body systems. The curriculum emphasizes a rehabilitation-focused approach, preparing students to prescribe and implement exercise programming tailored for individuals with these chronic conditions. This course is designed for students with a strong foundation in anatomy and physiology. Prerequisites: BIOL 211 - Anatomy and Physiology I  and BIOL 212 - Anatomy and Physiology II  . Grade only. Offered alternate semesters (usually spring). Note: This course is recommended after completing  △ HERS 445 - Medical Aspects of Exercise .
