STAT 335 - Principles of Study Design


(3 credits)

This course will provide an introduction to study design and proper methods of data collection. Students will gain an overview of the research cycle, basic principles of experimental design, observational studies, effective design of survey instruments, and examples of study bias. Additionally, the course will address ethical considerations in study design, data collection and storage, data analysis, and development of machine learning algorithms. Prerequisite: STAT 305 - Biometry  or △ STAT 310 - Intermediate Statistics  or ◆ ECON 322 - Intermediate Statistics for Business and Economics  or PSY 331 - Advanced Research Methods and Analysis in Psychology  or instructor permission. Grade only. Offered annually.
