△ FILM 440 - Theoretical Approaches to Directors and Stars

(3 credits) Meets GEP Writing Intensive.

Advanced studies of specific directors or stars, addressing biographical, historical, technological, aesthetic, and thematic concerns, with the individual topic(s) announced in the course schedule. Critical analysis of films, directors, and stars will be theoretically informed and grounded in related scholarly readings. Weekly screenings and substantial research required. Prerequisites: ENG 111 - College Reading and Writing, FILM 140 - Approaches to Film, FILM 240 - Film Genres, or instructor permission. Grade only. Offered annually. Repeatable as topics change.
