△ FILM 450 - Theoretical Approaches to Topics/Problems in Film Studies

(3 credits) Meets GEP Writing Intensive.

Advanced studies of a specific topic or problem in film and media studies, such as those concerning technology, authorship, adaptation, intertextuality, interpretation, hermeneutics, etc. with the individual topic(s) announced in the course schedule. Critical analysis of films, topics, and problems will be theoretically informed and grounded in related scholarly readings. Weekly screenings and substantial research required. Prerequisites: ENG 111 - College Reading and Writing, FILM 140 - Approaches to Film, FILM 240 - Film Genres, or instructor permission. Grade only. Offered annually. Repeatable as topics change.
