THAD 116 - Dance Appreciation for Dancers

(3 credits) Meets GOAL 6 (Fine Arts) and GOAL 8.

Designed for the dancing student who wishes to deepen, broaden, and contextualize their prior knowledge of dance. Students will analyze and physicalize dance - including American concert dance forms and world traditions - within their cultural, historical, and theoretical contexts. Emphasis on dancing, creativity, writing and dialogic response to live dance performance, video, and theory. Grade only. Offered alternate semesters (usually spring). Note: 3+ years of recent dance training required.
