MCOM 491 - Media Lab

(3 S.H.)

Media Lab is the capstone practicum experience for Photo Communication and Journalism students. This laboratory course is the application and synthesis of students’ major course of study in a professional team context. Students will work in multiple media and explore in depth a single media or combination in a final project. Students will also learn professional media best practices, media management, and production workflow. Prerequisites for students in the Journalism Option:

△ MCOM 232 - News Writing

, MCOM 332 - News Gathering, MCOM 334 - Feature Writing, and MCOM 336 - News Editing. Prerequisites for students in the Photography and Digital Imaging Option:

MCOM 210 - Visual Communication

MCOM 215 - Photo: The Technical Art

, MCOM 310 - Photojournalism and Documentary, MCOM 312 - Visual Perception and Imaging, and MCOM 319 - Studio Photography.
Note: MCOM 491 Media Lab is held jointly for students in the Journalism Option and for students in the Photography and Digital Imaging Option.
