Scholarship and Community Service

The College supports faculty and student scholarship/research within the University and with educational partners in the region. Faculty hold joint appointments or consultant roles with health care, sports, human services and recreation agencies throughout the southeast Minnesota and western Wisconsin area. Faculty collaborate with major clinical education partners on local, regional and national funded projects.

Community service is demonstrated in many ways within and outside the University. Faculty hold practice appointments in healthcare facilities across the region; administer community care clinics for cardiopulmonary rehabilitation and cancer patients throughout the region; participate in regional outreach through direct interaction with healthcare providers and community clinics such as Bridges Health; direct research in the laboratory and clinical settings; and collaborate with major affiliates on local, regional, and national service-learning projects.

Faculty

A majority of the faculty hold doctoral degrees earned at prominent universities throughout the United States. In addition, the learning environment in the classroom and practica/internship/clinical sites are supported by other professional experts in the region who hold graduate degrees in health sciences, nursing, recreation, tourism, and social work. All faculty hold appropriate/required licensure and/or certifications in their respective discipline, maintain their practice/clinical excellence, and are recognized for their expertise among their faculty/practice colleagues.
