HERS - Nutrition (NUTR) - Minor

The Nutrition minor is for individuals who are interested gaining a nutrition knowledge base that will enhance future work in a community, school (classroom teaching), worksite or research setting. The focus of this minor is to prepare students to promote sound, evidence-based nutrition principles to physically and culturally diverse clients, making referrals to Registered Dietitians when necessary. The nutrition minor is designed to assist students who are considering pursuing further professional training in dietetics or graduate education in nutritional science. This minor exposes students to principles of nutritional research.
The minor is open to all HERS majors, along with students double majoring in School Health Teaching and Physical Education Teaching. Enrollment in the minor is limited and competitive. To be eligible to apply for the Nutrition Minor, students will have to have completed the following pre-requisite courses: , , and be currently enrolled in, or have a plan to take, , or and . More information about the application process and deadlines is available from the HERS Department office (351 Maxwell Hall) and/or faculty advisor.
