Special Education - Developmental Disabilities (SEDD) - BT Major

2.50 GPA required.
C grade or better required in major courses.
This program prepares students to become teachers licensed by the state of Minnesota to teach K-12 students with developmental cognitive disabilities (DCD). DCD is defined as “intellectual functioning significantly below average and is associated with concurrent deficits in adaptive behavior that require special education and related services.”

Teacher Education Licensure Program Information
Before a student is able to take Education courses needed for licensure, that student must first be admitted to the Teacher Education Unit. This process is competitive as the number of students who can be admitted each semester is limited. Admission is based on grades, passing the Basic Skills Exams and other measures. All Winona State University Teacher Education Licensure Programs are continuously updated to reflect new licensure requirements from the Minnesota Board of Teaching. Please contact your program advisor for the latest information about program requirements whether you are (1) applying to a teacher education program, or (2) currently enrolled in a teacher education program.
