Computer Science (COMS) - Minor

Letter grade required in all minor courses unless otherwise noted.

The Computer Science minor is designed to provide students with a solid understanding of computer science. Students will gain knowledge and skills to apply computer programming techniques to their major field of study. The courses included in the Computer Science minor are the introductory programming sequence for CS majors along with mathematics and upper-level computer science major elective courses.

Note


Students who are prepared for calculus and take CS 234 - Algorithms and Problem-Solving I  as their first computer science course may choose to take a 300/400- level CS course in place of CS 101 - Exploring Creative Computing .

  1. * Math majors may substitute △ MATH 327 - Foundations of Mathematics  for CS 275.
  2. ** Students may only take MATH 140 or MATH 212.
  3. Only 3 S.H. of CS 491 - Practicum in Computer Science  may be used for elective credit.
