The Applied and Professional Writing major is designed for students who wish to be a writing specialist or who desire a career that depends upon strong writing and communication skills. Specific courses include technical writing, grant writing, editing professional documents, creative writing, and related courses that foster critical evaluation of ideas, the expression of those ideas, and the ethical implications of those ideas.
Students may become professional technical writers, editors, and writing specialists for the business, non-profit, and governmental spheres. The program will also prepare students for graduate study in rhetoric, professional writing, and other language-related fields.
