This option is designed to provide students with the most choices in their major in communication studies. Students can choose from the widest number of courses and customize the curriculum to meet their personal and professional goals. Students who major in General Communication will be expected to:
Assess communication behavior
Compare and contrast diverse perspectives on communication
Analyze communicative issues in real-world scenarios
Apply communication research findings both in and out of the classroom
Conduct semi-independent research in Communication Studies
Courses not used for the option requirements may be used to meet this requirement.
Students wishing to complete two degrees concurrently, (example: Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science) must complete a minimum of an additional 30 semester hours above the required 120-128 credit hours. Students must complete all major requirements under both degrees, including separate minors if required.
