16-17 credits
2.0 GPA required.
Letter grade required in all minor courses unless otherwise noted.
WSU offers all undergraduate students the option of adding an Adventure Education (AE) minor to their current major through the Department of Physical Education and Sport Science. The AE minor offers students/practitioners the ability to use games and activities focused on critical thinking, problem solving, group initiatives, trust building, and social and emotional learning, for the success of students/clients/participants in their given context and discipline. Students in this minor will also gain hands on experience while engaging in activities using outdoor pursuits and activities of indoor climbing, Sugarloaf hiking and climbing; canoe, kayak, and paddle board opportunities on Lake Winona and the backwaters of the mighty Mississippi River; and fat tire, snowshoe, and winter activities. Students will learn how to use these hard and soft skills from the AE minor for their own discipline as a vital tool to reach today’s children in a new, fun, and challenging way.
