Admission
To be admitted into the Performance degree program, students must make a formal application and pass an audition before a faculty committee after their first year.
Core Requirements (25 credits)
Required Courses (9-10 credits)
Pedagogy Course - choose one
must correspond to student’s major performing medium
Literature and Techniques Courses (4-6 credits)
must correspond to student’s major performing medium
Instrumental Performance Majors
Performance Area Requirement (2 credits)
Instrumental Performance Majors
Chamber Ensemble (2-4 credits)
Instrumental Performance Majors
Choose one: (four semesters/credits required)
Major Performing Large Ensemble (8 credits)
Choose one: (Must correspond to student’s major performing medium. Participation required each semester enrolled as music major.)
Applied Lessons in Primary Performance Medium (16 credits)
At least 8 semesters of applied lessons required.
Electives (6 credits)
Electives must be taken from areas of theory, history, and literature. Students may not count courses that are already part of their degree program.
Additional Requirements
Students must pass a piano proficiency exam.
Foreign Language (8 credits)
