Overview
Japanese Studies (JAPN Minor) offers a solid foundation to understand the Japanese language, culture, and society, and prepares students to work within the diverse, global economy. Proficiency-oriented language courses, combined with electives, help students develop communication, cultural competency, and globally marketable skills. The JAPN Minor enhances students’ marketability in fields including communications, education, engineering, international business and banking, science and technology, translation, and more. Knowledge of Japanese will also facilitate the teaching of English as a Foreign/Second Language.
WSU offers a wide range of study abroad opportunities with partner universities in Japan. Students are strongly encouraged to study abroad in Japan for a year or a semester as part of the minor.
