Program Overview
The Business Education Teaching major prepares students to become teachers of business and technology at the 5-12 grade level. Students complete courses in business and technology education, general business core, and professional education. During the final semester of the program, students are required to teach in a business education classroom on a full-time basis for one semester to fulfill their student teaching requirement.
Since Winona State is the only public university in Minnesota to offer the 5-12 Business Education teaching licensure, faculty have arranged for the Business Education (BUED) courses to be offered primarily online. Students in this program can complete their general business core and professional education courses through the MN State institution in their area* (streamlined most efficiently through MSU-Mankato); they can complete the Business Education coursework online through WSU. *The Minnesota Standards of Effective Practice must be taken from a single PELSB-approved teacher preparation institution and verification of satisfactory completion must be provided. Students interested in this program should contact the Business Education office for an advisor.
