Minor (or additional major if non-dual degree seeking) required outside CS department.

2.5 GPA required.

C grade or better required in major courses.

Communication Studies - Organizational & Corporate Communication Major Map  

This option is designed to prepare students to succeed in modern organizations. With ongoing changes in technology, the use of teams, and the multiplicity of ways that organizations are structured, students need to be prepared to understand and adapt to an ever-changing world of work. Students who major in Organizational & Corporate Communication will be expected to:

  • Analyze the effects of communication technologies in organizations
  • Analyze organizational culture and systems
  • Apply appropriate theories to organizational settings
  • Demonstrate communication competencies appropriate for the organizational setting, such as leadership, followership, and interpersonal communication
  • Analyze organizational behaviors from diverse perspectives
  • Construct original messages for a variety of audiences
  • Develop a professional development plan or portfolio

Required Courses (24 credits)


Electives (6 credits)


Choose two additional CMST courses, excluding CMST 191 - Introduction to Public Speaking  or  CMST 192 - Introduction to Effective Communication .

Dual Degrees


Students wishing to complete two degrees concurrently, (example: Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science) must complete a minimum of an additional 30 credits above the required 120-128 credit hours. Students must complete all major requirements under both degrees, including separate minors if required.
