The Sport Leadership graduate certificate program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to cultivate critical skills in leadership theory and research, management and administrative issue awareness, facilities planning, sport marketing management, and legal and ethical applications in the context of sport and physical education. This program emphasizes experiential learning through a culminating sport leadership internship, ensuring that students acquire practical knowledge and develop the proficiency necessary for their professional careers.
The PESS Sport Leadership Certificate courses can be used as electives for the Master of Science in Education degree offered through other departments in the College of Education. In cooperation with the Leadership Education Department, the graduate certificate in Sport Leadership can be combined with the five core courses in that department for the Master’s Degree in Leadership Education. Please refer to the Education Leadership: Sport Management - MS section of this catalog that describes the degree requirements for those programs.
