Nursing RN-to-BS Completion (NRNA) - BS Major

30 credits

2.0 GPA required.

2.5 GPA required for program admission. 2.0 GPA required to graduate.

Required courses must be taken for letter grade. C grade or better required in major courses.

A total of 120 semester credits are needed for the BS in nursing degree and include the following:

  • 30 required major core credits in the RN-BS program.
  • 64+ credits transferred in from your ADN program
  • Completion of General Education credits (Minnesota Transfer Curriculum [MnTC] Goal Areas 1-10) - required for all baccalaureate degrees
  • 16 Credits for Prior Learning (CPL): Students admitted to the RN-BS Completion program will be awarded 16 Credits for Prior Learning (CPL) based upon successful completion of the NCLEX-RN, or having an active and unencumbered RN License. The credits will fulfill the following course requirements: NURS 310 Medical/Surgical Nursing I (4 credits), NURS 350 Medical/Surgical Nursing II (4 credits), NURS 410 Medical/Surgical Nursing III (4 credits), and NURS 450 Medical/Surgical Nursing IV (4 credits).

The RN-to-BS Completion Program is for students who already hold a registered nurse license and are now seeking a BS degree. Detailed program requirements are available on the Nursing website.

Upper-Division General Electives (10 credits)


Suggested 300/400 level nursing courses to satisfy this requirement. Students are encouraged to meet with advisors to determine appropriate courses. Nursing electives may not be offered on a regular basis - verify with course schedule.
