Note:

STAT 110 - Fundamentals of Statistics is not a prerequisite for admission to the Criminal Justice program.
Computer skills are a necessary requirement for employment in the profession of criminal justice. It is strongly recommended that the student complete a computer science course.
The student must also be admitted to the Criminal Justice program in order to enroll in any 400-level or track course.
Note that all field courses have an additional fee to cover malpractice liability insurance.

Track Specialization

Upon application to the criminal justice program, students select one or both of the specialization tracks. If both tracks are selected, the student must complete two separate internships: one in corrections (SOC 461 - Criminal Justice Internship Corrections ) and one in law enforcement (SOC 462 - Criminal Justice Internship Law Enforcement ). Successful completion of SOC 420 - Minnesota Criminal Code is required for POST (Peace Officer Standards & Training) certification in Minnesota. Students seeking peace officer licensure in the state of Minnesota must successfully complete SOC 420 - Minnesota Criminal Code in addition to the summer skills component.
