MATH 140 - Applied Calculus


(3 credits)

An intuitive approach to calculus using technology. Applications may include present and future value of investment streams, marginal cost and marginal revenue, elasticity of demand, average cost, consumer and producer surplus. Emphasis throughout is to enhance students’ understanding of how calculus is used in real-world applications. Meets GOAL 4. Prerequisite: Qualifying score on the mathematics placement exam, MATH 112 - Applied Precalculus , MATH 115 - College Algebra , MATH 117 - Precalculus with Modeling , or MATH 120 - Precalculus . Grade or P/NC. Offered each semester.
