SPED 472 - Elementary Instruction (3 credits)
This course provides the teacher candidate with knowledge and skills related to the elementary grade level special education academic language, planning, teaching, monitoring K-6 exceptional learner’s academic, learning skills and social/emotional learning needs for the diverse learning circumstances of exceptional learners who meet the requirements for special education services in the following clinically diagnosed mild learning needs: Autism Spectrum Disorder, Developmental Cognitive Disability, Emotional/Behavioral Disorder, Other Health Disability, and Specific Learning Disability. Prerequisites: SPED 300 - Children and Youth with Exceptionalities , SPED 410 - Introduction to Assessment/Methods , ◎ SPED 420 - Special Education Administrative Procedures , and admission to Teacher Education. Pre/corequisite: SPED 425 - Inclusion in Regular Classrooms . Corequisites: SPED 470 - Advanced Evaluation and Assessment and SPED 474 - Elementary Practicum for ABS . Grade only. Offered each semester.
