SPED 570 - Advanced Evaluation and Assessment


(3 credits)

This course provides the teacher candidate with knowledge and skills related to procedures for pre-referral, referral, assessment, evaluation, individualized planning, programming and placement specific to students with mild to moderate Autism Spectrum Disorder, Developmental Cognitive Disability, Emotional/Behavioral Disorder, Other Health Disability, and Specific Learning Disability. Teacher candidates will administer, score, and interpret a variety of assessment tools, both formal and informal, and use results to develop individualized education programs for learners with diverse educational needs. Prerequisites: SPED 500 - Children and Youth with Exceptionalities , SPED 510 - Introduction to Assessment/Methods , SPED 520 - Special Education Administrative Procedures , and admission to Teacher Education. Pre/corequisite: SPED 525 - Inclusion in Regular Classrooms . Grade only. Offered each semester.
